Ein einziger Blick auf
das neue EVIDENCE ONE Coverartwork
macht direkt unmissverständlich klar, was es mit dem neuen Album auf sich hat:
dort sind drei Spielkarten abgebildet; zwei davon beziehen sich auf die ersten
beiden Alben “Criticize The Truth”
und “Tattooed Heart”, während
einem auf der dritten Karte ein “Joker” entgegen grinst.
Die
Symbolik ist natürlich nicht zu verkennen und EVIDENCE
ONE sind willig, das Versprechen eines großen Albums einzulösen. Nach zwei
großartigen und abgefeierten Longplayern erstrahlt der Stern von EVIDENCE
ONE mit “The Sky Is The Limit”
gar noch heller. EVIDENCE ONE sind
eine gewachsene Band, die sich weiterentwickelt und durch ihre Klasse aus der
internationalen Hardrock- und Metal-Landschaft kaum noch wegzudenken ist. Ohne
Frage zählt die Gruppe um Sänger Carsten “Lizard” Schulz mittlerweile zu
Europas führenden Melodic Metal Bands.
Und
wieder sind EVIDENCE ONE auch mit
einem Videoclip am Start, dismal für den Titeltrack, der mit seinem schon fast
ACCEPT-artigen Riffing voll und ganz überzeugt. Aber das ist erst der Anfang
eines nur so mit Highlights gespickten Album. Abwechslungsreiches und
hochklassiges Songwriting, clever arrangiert, eingebettet in einen exzellenten
Sound – dafür steht der Name EVIDENCE
ONE. Nimmt man dann noch die gewonnene Erfahrung und daraus resultierendes
Selbstvertrauen hinzu, so lässt sich leicht erahnen, was für ein Killer-Album
uns mit “The
Sky Is The Limit” erwartet.
Im
Jahr 2002 debütierten EVIDENCE ONE
mit “Criticice The Truth”, einem
eigentlich nur aus einer Laune heraus geschriebenen Werk, das dann aber das
Fundament für eine richtige Band bilden würde. Die beiden Hauptakteure Carsten
“Lizard” Schulz (ex- DOMAIN, MIDNITE CLUB) und Robby Böbel (FRONTLINE)
waren bereits wohl bekannt in der Hardrock- und Metal-Szene. Mit Bassist Hutch
Bauer (FRONTLINE), dem zweiten Gitarristen Wolfgang Schirmer und Drummer Rami
Ali (JUSTICE, LEX) fand sich schnell ein erstklassiges Line-Up. Ihr
fantastsiches Songmaterial wurde in ganz Europa begeistert aufgenommen und daher
war es nicht überraschend, dass EVIDENCE ONE auf große Festivals wie “Gods
Of AOR” (als erste deutsche Band überhaupt!), “Earthshaker Fest” und das
“Wacken Open Air” eingeladen wurden. “Tattoed
Heart”, ihr zweites Album, erfüllte alle Erwartungen – und noch mehr
als das. Beginnend beim exzellenten Coverartwork von Thomas Ewerhard (u. a.
EDGUY und SPOCK´S BEARD) über die majestätische Gitarrenarbeit und die göttlichen
Vocals lieferte die Band hier ein Meisterwerk, das Heavyness und Melodie perfekt
miteinander zu verbinden wusste. Zu “Virus In My Veins” wurde auch ein
Videoclip abgedreht, der die professionellen Ambition nochmals unterstrich.
2005
tat sich nach diversen Shows mit Größen wie AXEL RUDI PELL, den SCORPIONS und
KROKUS, sowie einem weiteren Autritt beim “Earthshaker Fest”, eine weitere
große Chance für die Band auf: mit niemand Gereingerem als ALICE COOPER wurden
einige Konzerte in Deutschland absolviert. Das Jahr 2006 war für EVIDENCE ONE
von Songwriting für das dritte Album geprägt, hielt sie aber nicht davon ab,
beim “Rock Of Ages Festival” bleibenden Eindruck zu hinterlassen, wo man
sich mit TWISTED SISTER, GOTHARD, GLENN HUGHES, UFO und URIAH HEEP die Bühne
teilte. Dieses Festival war gewissermaßen auch die Feuertaufe für den neuen
Lead-Gitarristen Jörg “Warthy” Wartmann, der Robby Böbel an der Live-Front
ersetzte. Robby entschied sich schließlich dazu, seinen Fokus mehr auf
Produktion und Songwriting zu legen , blieb aber somit weiterhin ein wichtiger
Teil von EVIDENCE ONE. Sein erstes Ziel: den Nachfolger von “Tattooed
Heart” in Angriff nehmen. Zusammen mit Carsten “Lizard” Schulz schrieb
und produzierte Robby dann das dritte Album von EVIDENCE
ONE, “The
Sky Is The Limit”.
EVIDENCE ONE starteten
ihre Karriere als Hardrock-Band, wandelten sich dann zu einem Metal-Act ohne der
neu gewonnenen Heaviness die Melodie zu opfern. Auch die Fans des ersten Albums
lieben EVIDENCE ONE nach wie vor und
die Band hat sich darüber hinaus stilistisch auch für Metal-Fans geöffnet und
ihre Fanschaar stetig vergrößert.
Wie
der Titel ihres neuen Werkes schon andeutet, kann wohl jetzt nur der Himmel EVIDENCE
ONE die Grenzen aufzeigen…

EVIDENCE ONE cover artwork makes
unmistakably clear what the new album (their third) is all about: there we have

You
can take this as a promise from the band that already had released two great and
critically acclaimed records. With their third strike “The Sky Is The Limit”
the star of EVIDENCE ONE shines
brighter than ever before. Without leaving their musical way the band made
another step forward, what is hard to believe when you already know their
previous works. But in fact EVIDENCE ONE
have grown, evolved and secured their spot in the international Hardrock &
Metal landscape to be recognized as one of Europe´s leading Melodic Metal bands
today. Again there is a video clip, this time for the stunning title track with
an almost ACCEPT type of guitar riffing. But this is just the beginning of a
highlight-filled album. Diverse songwriting, cleverly arranged, with a high
class sound - this is what EVIDENCE ONE
stand for. Add to this the experience the band has gained and the confidence
they possess, you can imagine what kind of killer album comes your way with “The
Sky Is The Limit”.
In
2002 EVIDENCE ONE debuted with “Criticize
The Truth”, an album that was originally written just for fun, but then
became the foundation of a real band. The two mainmen are well-known throughout
the Rock & Metal scene: Robby Böbel (FRONTLINE) and Carsten “Lizard”
Schulz (ex- DOMAIN), who had found a first class line up together with Hutch
Bauer (from FRONTLINE as well) on bass, Wolfgang
Schimmer (2nd guitar) and Rami
Ali (JUSTICE, LEX ) on drums. The
fantastic song material received huge attention all over Europe so it was no
surprise that EVIDENCE ONE were
invited to festivals such as “Gods Of AOR” (as first German band ever!), the
“Earthshaker Fest” and “Wacken Open Air” in 2003. “Tattooed Heart“,
the second record, wrapped in an excellent artwork by Thomas Ewerhard (a.o.
EDGUY and SPOCK'S BEARD), has turned out to what many had wished: A masterpiece,
built on majestic guitarwork, divine vocals, heaviness and melody.

In
2005, after successfully playing shows with such heavyweights as AXEL RUDI PELL,
the SCORPIONS or KROKUS, and another stop at the famous 'Earthshaker Festival',
the band got the chance to tour Germany again, this time with none other than
ALICE COOPER himself. 2006 saw the band slowing down a bit, writing new material
for their third release, but making a deep impact on the first 'Rock Of Ages
Festival' together with the likes of TWISTED SISTER, GOTTHARD, GLENN HUGHES,
URIAH HEEP or UFO amongst others. The festival also meant the official
introduction of new lead guitarist Joerg "Warthy" Wartmann, who
replaced Robby Böbel. Robby finally decided to focus more on the production and
songwriting side of music. His first goal was to write the follow up to "Tattooed
Heart". Together with Carsten Lizard Schulz, Robby Böbel managed to
produce and write EVIDENCE ONE´s
third full length output "The
Sky Is The Limit".
Starting off as a Hardrock band, turning into a Metal act, combining melody and heaviness into one without disappointing the fans of their first album and opening themselves for new ones, only the sky can be the limit for EVIDENCE ONE now…
