Info:
BROKE[N]BLUE from Kolsva, Sweden, is a project with members from different bands
playing the original music of Lars Abrahamsson. The lead vocals are shared
between Eva Abrahamsson and Peter Gustavsson. Peter was lead guitarist of
melodic band Angelize in the 80´s and he is now since many years singer and
guitarplayer of cover/partyband Sixpack.
Lars and Eva have been playing in bands for a long time and joined the same band
for the first time about 15 years ago.
Ulf Vestlund is fulltime bass player with top cover band DeSotos and works with
leading Swedish artists such as Jennifer Brown and Andreas Johnsson.
In 1999, Lars published some songs on the web, which resulted in a lot of
interest from webzines and listeners around the world. The song "Back Again"
has been on top of the charts at Korean website Soundsky for a long time. After
some highscore reviews the band decided to record a full length CD. Ulf joined
the band on bass and drums and the debut album "Northern Light" was
recorded between Nov 2000 and May 2001.
The new album “The Waiting” was recorded at Balans Studio, owned by Ulf,
where he created a sound, made exclusively to fit the bands style. With new
album BROKE[N]BLUE will try to give another fine contribution to the AOR/Melodic
style and will go on fighting to get this music back on the main charts …
The nice artwork was done by Rainer Kalwitz. Some words from the press about the
debut album:
…this fantastic band will soon be releasing their debut album … a fantastic
keyboard driven melodic power pop band in the style of Heart, Richard Marx, Van
Halen (Hagar), Journey and Alyson Avenue. Eva's voice is simply stunning.
Basically Broke[N]Blue deliver killer songs with great hooks topped with a
superb production and great vocals from both the two singers. (Nicky Baldrian,
Fireworks Mag, VOLTZ Mag, Strutters)
… a real AOR pearl ... Broke[N]Blue are ready for the world. I’m slave to
their music! (Andrea Bertamino, Flash Magazine)
... Trust me, you will not be disappointed with the songmaterial here and it’s
pretty much a must have for Scandi fans. (Urban "Wally" Wallström -
AOR-EUROPE)
... it is the quality of the songs that makes this album what it is and
certifies the 82 points that it's getting from me. (Ed Kruijskamp - Rock Report)
